As my daughter is getting ready to head to the bus stop in the morning, here’s the questions I ask:
Do you have your mask? Yes.
Do you have your water bottle? Yes.
Do you have your computer? Yes.
Do you have your lunch? Yes.
Shoes? Snow pants? Coat? Yes. Yes. Yes.
Sounds like we’re ready to go! But that’s not where my questions end.
Do you have a positive attitude? Yes.
Do you have a curious mind? Yes.
Do you have a generous spirit? Yes.
Do you have the best of intentions? Yes.
Now. Now we’re ready to go.
Being ready to learn is about so much more than the stuff you bring to school in the morning. It’s in your mind, in your spirit. And the more we can remind ourselves of that and model that for our kids and students, the better their learning experience will be.
