Why It’s Important

If you want people to learn something, explain why it’s important.

Make a list of the reasons why knowing it is essential. Describe real-life situations when someone used this knowledge. Talk about when you have used this knowledge.

Don’t make a list of why you love it. Of course history teachers love history, and music teachers love music.

Talk about why it’s important to know this subject even if you’re not pursuing it as a career.

Once a person is fully convinced of the importance of something, it’s impossible to keep them from learning it. Until they’re convinced, you’re pushing rocks uphill.
