What Will You Say?

I think this is one of the best questions you can ask, and that you can encourage your students to ask:

What will you say about these times when they are over?

About a tour, a year, a grade, a project, friendship: how will you describe them?

It’s always my hope to be able to say, “I gave as much to that experience as I was able to give.”

Perhaps there’s value in saying about some experiences, “I faked my way through that” or “I could have done more” – those are opportunities for learning. But the more we can say, “I put my all into it,” the more of our life we can look back on proudly. (It also seems to me that we learn the most in those times, too.)
