How can you incorporate the effect of a studio session into rehearsal?
Both I and my students hear differently in the studio. We all hear and seek to correct mistakes with an intensity not present at every rehearsal.
We pace differently in the studio. There is still laughter and camaraderie but it is mixed with a drivenness that isn’t necessarily present at every rehearsal.
We learn differently in the studio. Things that might have taken a long time to pick up in rehearsals suddenly come together in the studio.
I always relish my studio sessions at the end of the school year; but I always find myself wishing I could do them year round. The positive effects of studio recording are almost without parallel in my work with students.
