A new year means starting fresh. Or does it?
I’m looking at a front row (all tenors) in the Aces who were also all in the same voice part last year. Some of them have been in the same voice part for four years. It’s hard, with that looking back at you, to begin at square one in terms of ideas, lessons, and expectations. And yet, that’s what I’m trying to do.
For several reasons. First, because there are new members in the group, and they need to hear these things. Second, because all of the message bear reinforcement. And third, because returning members of the group might not have been ready to receive a message previously. Skip it, and it might never reach them.
So I look at a team of veterans, and I remind myself to start fresh.
