We’re all song leaders.
That’s the message Alice Parker gives us in her final book, Sharing The Song. Published this spring, it is a manifesto on a holistic, human-centered alternative to formal conducting and ivory tower music-making.
Parents, elementary teachers, choir directors, civic leaders, Scoutmasters: we all can take something away from Alice’s pointed, brilliant, and clear words about song leading. And I hope we all do, so that more people break in to song more often.
Next week I’ll be sharing a few insights from the book, with ideas on how they might affect my own song leading in choirs and in the community.
