Remember What You Know

First rehearsal after break. One directive:

Remember what you know.

It can be easy after a couple weeks off (two-and-a-half, for my ensemble) to let things slip and undo many of the strides you made leading into the break. There’s also no time for that. Too much to do!

As a leader, I’m working to have patience in the inevitable slips, while reminding my ensemble that the simple act of focusing on the music you’re singing usually prevents many of the mistakes that could occur.

In other words, remember what you know. Then do it!
