Running for mayor is about connections and issues, to be certain. But it’s more frequently about shaking hands, expressing platitudes that don’t offend, and not being overly specific.
It’s about making friends, not changing minds.
Teaching is about changing minds, not making friends.
To be an effective teacher, you must be willing to take stands on the subject at hand, you have to express meaningful insights, you have deeply specific about the subject.
