My Kind Of Crazy

It’s great to find people who are crazy in the same way as you.

Tonight I attended a concert production of Les Misérables, performed by a cast of seventh through twelfth graders who started rehearsing together on Monday. (The cast featured two of my students/Aces members as Jean Valjean and Inspector Javert, as well as another Rockford student as Eponine.)

Leading that kind of a hyperspeed rehearsal/production process is crazy, but it’s my kind of crazy, and that’s just what I said to a friend who led the production, immediately after the house lights came up. Ten years ago, we produced a fully staged high school production of Into The Woods in three weeks, so I’m intimately familiar with the process – and loved it! I loved helping students discover and then surpass their limits, I love working with students who aren’t overwhelmed with schoolwork, and I love inspiring students with great musical material.

There are all kind of crazy, and seeing that other people are the same kind is reassuring, inspiring, and hopeful.

Now, what crazy can I get into next?
