Is there anything more human than music, together?
Making. Attending. Dancing. Music, as a communal activity, is profoundly human and doesn’t seem to be getting less so.
I’m watching thousands of people dance together in the Coachella livestream – united by the music.
The genre doesn’t matter. The venue doesn’t matter. A jazz brunch or an EDM rave do the same thing – unite us in the music. And I think we need it.
It’s a little bit too easy to forget that listening on your earbuds is not a substitute for the collective experience of music with other humans. The together is just as important as the music.
