Could you gamify the choir education experience?
One of the creators of Duolingo shared a great TED Talk titled “How To Make Learning As Addictive As Social Media.”
I watched it closely, thinking about how I could apply the ideas to my own teaching. The problem (non-problem) is this: we don’t need to do anything to gamify music-making.
Making music, and especially singing with a group, is hard-wired into our identity as humans. All you need to do to have people want to keep doing it is to make good music in a positive environment.
You don’t need leaderboards, competitions, notifications, or any other game elements. You just need the thing.
Sing together. Human nature will do the rest.
