3 Reasons To Keep Going

I am celebrating my 9-year streak of writing daily here without missing a day. (I regularly pre-write and schedule posts so I can be away from my computer.)

Why keep going? Three big reasons.

  1. I believe it’s in service to my community to ask questions and provide insight about the main topics of my blog – creativity, education, and vocal music.
  2. My own understanding of the world improves every day as I write. “I write entirely to find out what I’m thinking” says Joan Didion (and many others agree).
  3. To remember that the drip drip drip of a consistent practice creates massive results. I’m coming up on 700,00 words and almost never write more than 200 words a day. That’s a drip producing an ocean. I especially like being able to point to it with my students as they embark on creative careers or practice journeys.
