What do you call the things you’re okay being okay at?
There are careers.
There are side hustles.
There are hobbies.
And there are fourth things.
Careers and side hustles are for making money. Side hustles and hobbies are for fitting into your free time. All three should be things you’re passionate about and have aspirations for.
Fourth things aren’t for money, and they aren’t hobbies. My hobby of bread baking finds me working hard to do my very best.
My fourth thing of gardening is something I find time for when I find time and for which I have no real hopes of excellence. Maybe someday it will become a hobby. Right now, it’s a fourth thing.
