Emotional Professionalism

Take a deep breath, and consider what it means to be emotionally professional.

Here’s Simon Sinek:

“If you’re having a bad day, you can say, ‘Listen, I’m a little off my game today.” But you can’t sit in the meeting and be grumpy and give one word answers. That’s emotionally unprofessional.”

Becoming a professional takes time, and requires effort. We can’t, for example, expect most high school students to be emotionally professional, any more than the we can expect them to be professional authors, mathematicians, or scientists. But we can help them along their path to professionalism.

Emotionally, too.
