Core Teaching Value: Availability.

I will always be available for my students; that means taking calls, returning texts, writing letters, answering questions, feeding them, going to bat for them, intervening when they’re struggling.

I think the best teachers make themselves available to their students in profound and important ways. That doesn’t mean they don’t have lines and protect their own space and boundaries. But within the confines of those boundaries, the best teachers work to make themselves available to care for their students, in and out of class.
