Worth Your Time

The experiences worth giving your time to are, almost exclusively, not easy.

I just returned home from a Youth Symphony concert. My son played some fantastic clarinet solos in the Tchaikovsky 5th Symphony, as principal clarinet. The rehearsal process has pushed, challenged, and frustrated him as he worked towards this performance.

My oldest is working eighteen-hour show days with a national concert tour right now. He is learning, growing, and developing his career – but easy it is not.

My youngest, my daughter, is working her way through honors and AP classes as a freshman. She’s busy with extracurriculars and was just cast as a lead in the musical.

And when I look back on the most important moments in my own life – professionally, personally, and educationally – they all came in times of struggle.

It is when I was challenged, pushed, frustrated, and exhausted that I did the things that have made my life.
