When I’m trying to get ahead on work, it’s easy to fall into “I’ll finish what I need to do for tomorrow, then I’ll do a bit extra.” The problem is that I often don’t ever get to the extra – so I don’t get ahead.
A better plan is to work back to front. Start by doing the extra, and then do what you’ve gotta do for today.
For example, I’m writing this on April 19 – my first of a planned series of blogs to give myself part of the summer off. I’ll write today’s post after I write the one for August 10, because if I did it the other way around, I’d never get to what you’re reading right now.
