With People Who Know

It’s affirming to spend time with people who know what your life is like.

My work family doesn’t work in the same buildings as me. They work in buildings all over the country – doing similar work, facing similar challenges, inspired by similar goals.

Being occasionally around those people, as I was today at the Gold Company Vocal Jazz Festival, is affirming because of the true empathy and camaraderie we feel. Without words spoken we felt kinship.

Even on a day as long as this (16 hours, door to door) I finished it energized by the sense of connection with community.
