Why I am I teaching myself Logic Pro?
I’ve been a Pro Tools guy for decades. I’m comfortable in that DAW, I use it very regularly, and the studios I work with all use it, too. So why spend the time to learn a different software?
For three reasons, I think.
- So I can understand why other people prefer it. Learn its strengths, understand its workflow.
- So I can see whether it will offer value to me as a recording engineer. Until I use it, I won’t really know.
- Because it makes my brain more flexible. The tools artists use can impact the way they craft things, and shaking myself out of my usual workflow will give me a much appreciated step-back and perspective.
Today, I’ve been working on a big band demo track, which I’m told is much more intuitive in Logic than Pro Tools. I’ll continue poking around and see what happens!
