Why I Do It.

I had lots of opportunities (six concerts this week with me directing) to be reminded of why I do what I do.

I do it to see students flourish.

I watched my high school students flourish with new ideas, new commitment, new professionalism in every one of their four performances this week.

I watched my high school students reach to a professional level of performance this week, gigging as part of a professional show and making strides in their musicality and showmanship.

I watched an alum (Bradley Sinclair) command the stage for two 90-minute shows, showing depth and breadth while being engaging, heartfelt, and funny.

In all cases, I have been privileged to give them opportunities to flourish and grow. That’s precisely why I do it.
