The audience is just as important as the material.
Is it a small ensemble or a large one? Is it an intimate talk or for 1,000 people in a banquet hall? Are they my colleagues or my students?
These and a dozen other questions are often overlooked when we prepare to talk in front of people. The version of myself that I bring must depend on who I am talking to.
