What’s Your Sparketype?

I’ve enjoyed Jonathan Fields’ work as an author and podcaster for a long time. He’s an engaging thinker and consistently asks mindful and deep questions of his podcast guests.

He’s just released a new book, Sparked, which is a framework for thinking about “the work that makes you come alive.” His research divides us all into ten “sparketypes” (spark of life/archetype) that define the kind of work that we find most meaningful. Additionally, his assessment gives you a “shadow sparketype” (the secondary meaning-building work style) and an anti-sparketype (the work that you find least meaning-building, or most off-putting.)

I have found the assessment to be spot-on, and his work in describing the sparketypes to be insightful and enlightening. I can’t wait to dig into the book and learn more about how to better use my understanding of my own sparketypes to do more meaningful work.

I strongly recommend that you take the free assessment and share it with friends!

(Oh, and for the record, I’m a Maven (seeker of knowledge) with a shadow sparketype of Sage (sharer of knowledge. My anti-sparketype is Performer, which feels absolutely right.)
