That’s the wrong question.
My high school students worry a lot about figuring out what they’re going to be. And by “be” they mean job.
First – that’s not who you’ll be. That’s what you’ll do. And that’s a legitimate question. But it’s still the wrong one, all things considered.
You’re not going to do one things with your life. You’ll do many things.
A better question might be, what kind of person do I want to be? What impact do I want to have on the world?
And:
What kind of paths do I want available to me when I finish college?
But also:
How can I do what I’m doing now as well as I can? (A wise friend said to me, the best way to get a bigger project is to do the current project as well as you can.)
And furthermore:
Who am I?
Spend time finding out who you are. Try things, ask questions. Have conversations. All of it helps.
The more you know about yourself, the easier the next choice will be.
