Sometimes we need reminding that we aren’t totally in control. You can be reminded by an illness that flattens you, or a mistake in performance that never happened in rehearsal. You can be reminded by other humans around whose plans undermine your own.
My favorite way of surrendering control, though, is the weather. For tomorrow, for example, I have had to revise my travel schedule twice to account for weather – and I’m anticipating that I might have further challenges as I go.
That’s okay. I’m not totally in control. I work to accept the way the world affects my plans, and the weather is working with me on that front.
