How can you use “Undo Send” as an artistic tool?
The Undo Send button that many email services have recently integrated is a great advancement for many reasons.
Of course, there’s the obvious reason. How many times have I clicked send and then immediately seen a typo or rethought a paragraph. Many, many times. Undo Send has already saved me more than once.
But there’s another case where I find Undo Send useful. Sometimes I get nervous about putting my art into others’ hands. Whether it’s an arrangement, a recording, a book, an essay, or any other creation, there have been times when I have drafted an email and never sent it – or, indeed, just not drafted the email.
Undo Send has quieted my inner critic enough to click send, knowing there’s a 10 second safety net, and has let me send things I might have sat on longer. It’s a gift.
