I tried a new activity at this year’s retreat, and I’m keeping it.
Two Minute Talents! Each singer brought some small talent or trick (think “Stupid Human Tricks”) that could be performed in two minutes or less.
It was raucous fun – laughter, silliness, and impressive, all at once! It went quickly, because of the two-minute limit, and it was another chance to bond outside the realm of music-making. I’m keeping it in my rotation.
And for the record, my two-minute talent this year was singing “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” but one syllable off (so that it ends on the penultimate note of the piece, a leading tone).
