The best memories happen when you turn off the world.
Every year at our end of the year Aces Concert, I ask my seniors for their favorite memories with the group. Without fail, many of them involve experiences at our annual retreat in August/September – 9 months before I ask the question!
I think the reason so many favorite memories come from that weekend is because we’ve turned off the world. Everyone is fully together with no running home or picking up their sibling from school or doomscrolling.
My commitment is to create more “turn off the world” moments with my students. That’s when the magic happens.
