The best use of social media is…to inspire yourself to create.
Without a doubt, social media are designed to get us to consume more social media. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Curate your feed with artists, musicians, thinkers, and creative visionaries. You can use your scrolling to fill your well instead of empty your mind, and with the right parameters you can walk away feeling inspired to create your own art.
I love seeing what my creative friends are up to, and I love feeling inspired to make more of my own art by them. The best vision of social media I have is one in which more and more art is created as we share our art and get inspired by others. That’s what I’m going for and why I’m still there.
It’s hard to avoid social media; but if you’re going to be there, at least use it for your own artistry.
