To Communicate Clearly

To communicate clearly, you need two things:

  1. Know exactly what you want to communicate.
  2. Express it as simply as possible (but no simpler).

That’s true if you’re giving a speech, if you’re instructing a class (or a choir), or in your conducting.

You can communicate things fuzzily because you’re fuzzy on the details.

You can communicate things so simply they’re not clear.

You need both.
