The real art of teaching is singular.
The real art of teaching is figuring out what makes one student tick, and then devising techniques to (a) make them curious about a subject and (b) help them feed their curiosity.
It’s not scalable. It’s personal. It’s one-on-one.
The best teachers can reach a classroom full of students by connecting with each one, at a cost of great time beyond classroom hours. Other teachers find single strategies that accomplish this for most students, or reach the ones who are naturally curious. Being a teacher-artist isn’t content specific: the best teachers could be switched to a completely different subject and be effective, though passion for the subject makes the work easier and the best teachers are often at their best with specific ages of students.
Artistry in teaching hard work, and it’s never mechanical. It’s singular.
