The Moment of Failure

Don’t spend too much time on the moment of failure.

The decisions that led to any failure were usually made long before the failure occurs. So when failures happen, do two things.

  1. Look back to see what precipitated the moment. What different decisions could you have made and when should you have made them.
  2. Look forward to decide what to do differently next time. You’ll have another chance to do better; how will you prepare for that moment?

Failures happen to everyone. It’s how you learn from them and how you change for next time that are important. And neither the learning nor the changing happen in the moment.
