Sometimes you’re just excited for a weekend to work.
I’ve been doing exciting projects on a lot of fronts, with weekends spent away at retreats, leadership training, and so on. My days are packed with the stuff of life, and it’s all really good stuff.
As we move toward the weekend, I’m mostly excited that I’m going to be home to do more work. Sure, I’m excited to play games with my family, read a bit, cook something extra nice, and sleep in past 6. But I’m even more excited to be spending a few extra hours in the office, getting on top of projects.
An argument against this would be “Work/Life Balance” – the idea of protecting sacred time away from work. But there is simply no way to consistently set aside the same times; my three-day leadership weekend last weekend requires that I give back some time to work this weekend.
A great sign of a job well chosen is that you want to give it extra time when you can afford it.
