As often as possible, take the risk.
I’m not far away from leaving on my next international choir tour, taking 46 students on a 10-day tour of Croatia and Italy. I know from past experience that this will be a powerful, life-changing experience for both me and the students.
Right now, it’s mostly just a heavy weight. It’s the kind of weight that might dissuade me from taking on this kind of project. But I am committed to it, anyway, because I know that in the end, I’ll forget the stress and remember the magic.
That has been remarkably consistent in the big projects I’ve taken on in my life, and I suspect in the big projects you’ve taken on, too.
So if you’ve got a big idea, go for it. I’ll be cheering for you. More specifically, take the big trip. Change some lives.
