Summer “Vacation” – Time to Build New Habits

The high school students I work with are as busy as most adults – and some are busier.

Dance class, theater club, varsity sport, voice lesson, a job, SAT tutoring, youth group, and on and on. Not forgetting the homework!

It’s a very, very full life. That’s why now is the time to build a new habit.

Students: what do you want to be better at a year from today?

Write it down, hang it above your bed, and devote 10 minutes a day to getting better at it. Get a mentor if you can, and if you can’t, get online help.

Take a calendar and mark an X every day you practice your habit. How long a streak can you build before the first day of school?

Summer “Vacation” is the best time for you to reinvent yourself and take some big steps down the road to success.
