Still But Tired

You can be exhausted after a day of stillness.

I conducted two Cabaret shows today, and two last night; my responsibilities are mostly countoffs and some cues; plus, careful focus to help keep the band together in case something unexpected happens.

In other words, I’m mostly sitting still.

But brains take tremendous energy when you’re blazing new pathways. So I know that my exhaustion tonight is justified by the mental work I was doing.

Students do the same sort of blazing of pathways in school every day. We do them a disservice if we think that their time sitting at desks hasn’t been tiring.
