Start a small project with a really distant deadline.
I’ve long admired people who commit to long projects (daily selfies, or the guy who wore the same shirt for his yearbook picture every year for his whole teaching career). I admire the consistency, the dedication, the vision at the beginning. I just admire this kind of work with eyes to the future.
I also just completed a very small personal project, nearly 15 years in the making. And it was so satisfying.
So I’ll say, to you and to myself, that these projects are worth doing. Whether it’s picking different colors for different days of the week or programming concert openers starting with consecutive letters of the alphabet or any number of other small, creative, long-term projects: it’s not too late to start, it’s worth the extra work, and you should totally do it.
