The fastest way isn’t necessarily full speed.
I slowed down this weekend, thanks to a cold shared with me by a family member. It never got bad enough to even check in with the doctor – and it won’t. That’s because slowing down gave me the space and rest to heal.
Which will naturally lead to me able to hit the ground running on a busy week of commitments including chorus leading with the Grand Rapids Symphony, loads of teaching, meetings, and plenty of other commitments. All of those would have been put in jeopardy if I had continued my usual pace all weekend.
In other words, allowing ourselves to slow down when we need it is often the most effective way to ensure we’re at full speed when we have to be.
