Short & Well-Rehearsed

What in your life would benefit from being shorter and better-rehearsed?

An old This American Life episode featured a personal story that featured a mom who told her kids that she didn’t want to see their “kid plays” unless they were “short and well-rehearsed.”

That mantra has stuck with me, and I think it’s an example of good parenting, good leadership, and a good philosophy for what you put into the world.

I’m compiling speeches for the Aces Concert this Friday, and “short and well-rehearsed” is the name of the game for me. I’m making it as short as possible, because audiences didn’t come to hear me talk. I’m making it well-rehearsed so I don’t miss anything. I’m treating it with all the care I can muster, because the little moments of a concert can be just as important as the music.
