For each Rep (complete run of a piece), give ensemble members one minute to Huddle up in their section and strategize about what they want to improve for the next Rep. Like a football huddle, clarity of communication is key, because time is limited.
Oftentimes, the areas in need of improvement vary between voice parts. The Reps & Huddles approach gives each section the tight time they need to improve what they need to improve.
Additionally, it’s another opportunity to focus on putting leadership into the ensemble rather than into the conductor’s hands.
