Singers behave differently in a recording session.
They listen differently, they communicate differently, they sing differently. Usually for the good – they are more productive, more efficient, make more growth faster.
So why not bring the ethos of the studio session into the day-to-day rehearsal?
Set the goals up front:
- We need silence because of the sensitive recording equipment.
- We have specific goals that we have to complete.
- We have a limited time to get done what we want to get done.
Not every rehearsal can or should feel like a recording session: there are different needs that require different approaches. But the occasional “session in rehearsal” can be a great way to prep for the studio, to get ultra efficient in rehearsal, and to just experience a different vibe in a “regular rehearsal.”
