Process Wins

There’s no amount of skill or talent that can beat a consistent process.

A consistent process is also great for avoiding catastrophes.

I’m thinking of my recording session process. Immediately after the session is finished, I copy it from the studio computer to an external flash drive. As soon as I get home, that flash drive gets copied to my home computer – into a folder that is immediately uploaded to the cloud. Within a few hours of any recording, the session files exist in four places. There’s virtually no scenario in which I lose a session. (I’ve lost sessions before; I don’t want to do it again.

Consistent process is also how you keep your room clean, how you get physically fit, how you create an effective music practice routine. It’s how you build a successful relationship.

It all comes down to process. After A, I do B, then C.
