Do you plan your return to health in your head? Like, “I’m feeling crummy today, but I’m sure I’ll feel better tomorrow.”
I have been burned by this mindset more than once, because I’m always overly optimistic in terms of how quickly I’ll heal from a cold. I resume my normal pace too quickly, and end up suffering longer because of it.
The trick, I think, is to really give yourself the space to be sick, so that your healing is the top priority.
I can be much more effective in my work if I take a slightly wider view, focusing less on what I can get done tomorrow and more on what I can get done over the next month.
The wider view is a key that magically unlocks so much good in your life.
