When you’re reviewing a resumé or an audition form, or reflecting on an interview or audition, what is the number one trait you look for?
Some are looking for credentials.
Some are looking for work experience in the industry.
Some are looking for GPA.
Some are looking for awards, honors, certificates, and other external praise.
Some say that being an Eagle Scout is an immediate yes for a candidate.
Some are looking for the right teacher, the right range, the right sense of pitch. The “right” value system.
For me, while I respect the value of all of those things and many others, the thing I’m looking for most is curiosity.
If you’re curious and motivated, you can quickly make up for a lack of credentials and experience.
For me, curiosity is the one thing that guarantees we’re going to work well together.
