I’m an irrepressible forward thinker. I’m always looking ahead to the next things.
Today, though, I’m fighting hard to not look ahead. I’m working to stay present and relive the moments of an incredibly special concert last night. The 15th Annual Aces Concert was an amazing experience – my students reaching their potential by giving an amazing performance, premiering a brand new work written for us by Anders Edenroth, and having a reunion with 25+ alums of the group.
It is taking intentional effort to keep my mind not focused on the future; I do prefer to be looking forward. But it’s worth it to really fully experience a moment that I didn’t have time to experience while it was happening.
How do you give yourself the freedom to really enjoy the present?
