Maturing as an artist means learning to love your way of seeing the world.
What you think of as deficits aren’t deficits – they are your perspective. Developing that perspective is what makes your creations unique.
There was a time when I saw the things I couldn’t do or couldn’t see as weaknesses to be overcome. And it’s certainly true that as I learned my craft I worked on developing skills and ways of seeing. But now, I work to accept my limitations, and use them to hone my own work and sense of self.
It also means I am likely to refer work to someone else if I don’t feel like it will have a good overlap with my own strengths.
