None Of Us Are Sure

This is what I want my students to know: none of us are sure we’re doing a good enough job.

I’ve known a lot of amazing artists, educators, leaders. Many of them are deeply experienced and confident in the gifts they give to the world. All of them are not sure they’re doing enough.

The trick is to do it anyway. Because the alternative is to be paralyzed by the fear of failure – of not doing enough.

I’m not sure I’m doing a good enough job. I keep showing up and doing the best job I can. And that’s true for everyone I know.

I see it so often: the fear of doing something badly stops people from doing anything else. But the impact is made by the people who do things. They face the fear and keep trying.
