Take advantage of these two recent video panel discussions coming from the vocal jazz community. There is much to learn from here as we move into new worlds in the choral world.
First, this forum from a couple weeks ago, titled Race Conversations in Vocal Jazz, features a wonderful group of special guests: Duane Davis, Lenora Helm Hammonds, Connaitre Miller, Cynthia Wahl, and Jessica Falker – moderated and hosted by John Stafford.
Second, Rehearsing the Vocal Ensemble After COVID-19. This panel discussion hosted by the Jazz Education Network features another wonderful panel: John Stafford, Andrew Dahan, Christine Guter, Jennifer Barnes, & Dan Gregerman.
So much of value being shared by these wonderful colleagues – take the time to take advantage of what they’re sharing!
And if you’re looking for something a little lighter, you can’t go wrong with this new arrangement of “The Wells Fargo Wagon” from The Music Man – arranged in tribute to Gene Puerling by Gerhard Guter and performed by him and Christine Guter in the style of The Singers Unlimited and The Hi-Lo’s (special guest David Scott covers the Clark Burroughs lines). I love it!
