What does it take to make transcendent musical art?
I think it comes down to just three things. When I think of the greatest musical art I know – recordings, compositions, arrangements – they all come from artists who have achieved all three of them.
- Have something to say.
- Sound like you.
- Find collaborators.
None is easy. But while you can make music without one of those three, you can’t make transcendent music without all three.
