When you are making projects – recordings, arrangements, compositions, performances – there is a time when the work is complete but no one else has it yet.
It’s an exquisite moment to be in sole possessions of your new work of art, particularly if you are feeling confident in its value.
Soon, it will belong to the world, and that brings its own joy, of feedback and continued life. But for a brief time, it’s finished and it belongs only to you.
It’s the best feeling of “I’ve got a secret” that I know. I find it, all by itself, to be a good motivator for making things.
