It’s An Assignment

I tend not to think about the projects I work on as jobs.

I think of them as educational assignments. The projects are there to help me learn a lesson, develop a skill, or chart a path towards whatever I’m going to do in the future.

My writing here? Helping me learn how to write better for future projects.

My arranging? Helping me understand music and what I like in others’ writing – so I can teach it better and choose music more effectively.

Every rehearsal I conduct is an educational assignment helping me grow into my future self.

Don’t think of yourself as being at an end point. Think of yourself as continuing your growth and education with every project you work on.
